This worksheet is aimed at ESL (English as second/ foreign language) students, B1 preliminary level and higher. Use it when you teach the topic of nature, weather or elements.
The students need a copy of the first 2 pages. First, ask them to identify the pictures at the bottom of the first page. They can use these words to fill in the gaps of the sentences from 1-11. They should guess what the idioms are.
Then you check if they chose the correct pictures and move on to the second page where they have to match the sentences 1-11 to the definitions of the idioms a-k. Then discuss the meaning together.
The third page has the answer key.

You can either project the empty grid included or simply draw a 3x3 grid on the board. Mark the columns as A, B, C, and the rows as 1, 2, 3. They can win that spot and place their mark if they answer the question for that spot correctly. If they don’t know the right answer, the other group has the chance to respond and can win the spot. If no one answers correctly, it remains empty. The goal, as in every Tic-Tac-Toe game, is to get three of your marks in a line.
If you want tyou can give them a second chance for the empty spot:
-for the A2-B1 level, you can provide a hint for the same question.

Then ask a couple of them to read which statements got them a bingo and encourage them to discuss them. Why? When?
Of course, you can play the Environment Bingo in many different ways. In another version, students must work in pairs, form questions based on the statements, and mark their partner’s answers. Or the whole class can get up and walk around and students ask different classmates the questions.
It is recommended for teenagers and adults (a quite serious topic) and from about B1/ pre-intermediate level.
